Geothermal goes to college – UC Davis

Welcome to Baggins End, a collection of geodesic domes on campus at…

…the University of California, Davis. The domes are a model of sustainable living with net-zero aspirations, raised beds gardens, compost and cob-walled greenhouses.

UC Davis tapped Geonomic to create a custom geothermal system similar to a PTAC (Portable Terminal A/C).

UC Davis

Geonomic partnered with the UC Davis Program for International Energy Technologies to design prototype GHP systems to heat and cool the domes, plus provide community hot water. With a custom GTAC (Geothermal Terminal A/C) unit created for heating a 450 square foot space, there is new potential for tiny homes and ADU’s to take advantage of geothermal energy.

UC Davis

The project at UC Davis showcases the innovative ability of our engineers to create custom solutions. Based on the success of this project, UC Davis’s Program for International Energy Technologies and Geonomic Developments are submitting a proposal for additional UC Davis building conversions.
